A health worker is ready with vitamin A and polio vaccine at the opening of the integrated campaign for improved child survival. All Malian children under 5 years of age were targeted as appropriate, for free, with five types of health assistance to improve their chances of survival. During the campaign, children were vaccinated against measles and polio and received vitamin A supplements, treatments to kill intestinal worms, and a long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito net (LLIN) to protect them from malaria. The campaign is part of a huge effort led by the Malian Ministry of Health involving two dozen national and international partners. |
