PMI in Mali

A child receives vitamin A from a health worker. Vitamin A supplements can reduce mortality among the millions of children in countries where diets are deficient in key micronutrients. Vitamin A deficiency is the most frequent cause of blindness among preschool children in developing countries. The campaigns like the one in Mali reach large numbers of children, so they are a good way to increase impact. The long-term objective, however, remains to continue to improve access to local health care. |
