Malaria in Madagascar
Malaria transmission rates vary across Madagascar, with higher levels of transmission on the east and west coasts, and lower transmission in the highlands and in the south, but the entire country is considered vulnerable to the disease. Malaria is the leading cause of death among children under age five.

The Malaria Operational Plans (MOPs) below are detailed one-year implementation plans for PMI in Madagascar. Each MOP briefly reviews the current status of malaria control and prevention policies and interventions, identifies challenges and unmet needs, and describes planned activities under PMI. These MOPs have been endorsed by the Global Malaria Coordinator and reflect collaborative discussions with national malaria control programs and partners in country.
